Anonymous party of 2 had dinner at Durango and rated the steak,
and chopped steak very good because, "very good, was cooked
exactly as we ordered, nice Caesar salad" and writes on March
31, 2007, "we had early dinner this time. we come across from
east coast to west coast. this restaurant is on our way to
Tampa. it is only a few blocks off the highway. the food and
service are very good. the place is clean and the people are
pleasant. we will continue going there every time we head to
Tampa, because it's a consistent place, with good food and
service, and they cook meat the way you order it. they have
amber bock beer, which we like with meat more than wine. but
most of the people seemed to be drinking wine. the food is
cooked to order, and served at the proper time after the salads
are finished, and they don't serve you one on top of the other.
beverage first, salad, and then the food. all very good. and
quite reasonable. i think the beer was 2.00. so the prices are
not outlandish, and if you are hungry, a great place to go."

Charlene party of 5 visited Durango and ordered 11 oz. sirloin,
porterhouse, and the sagebrush chicken and rated the food
excellent because, "The steaks were cooked the way we all liked
them, and the salads were fresh." and writes on February 11,
2005: "I rate this service excellent because we had a great
visit. Everything came out in a timely manner. We ordered the
Margarita of the day and the Dynamite Merlot. The steaks we
cooked to our expectations. The seasonings were wonderful and
they were nice and juicy. The sagebrush chicken was perfect. It
had the right amount of toppings on it. We ordered the wild
onion and fire cracker shrimp for our appetizers and they were
wonderful. The shrimp was a little spicy but still good. We also
had the Chocolate Avalanche for dessert and it was very tasty.
The brownie was heated to the perfect temperature. Over all we
had a wonderful visit and we will be back again." The
following review is the Durango's in Venice:
Darlene Enders rated the food poor because: "It was all over
cooked the steak was like chewing leather the chicken was
uneatable the breading on it was so hard." Darlene ordered
fajitas for 2 beans and rice chicken and fries steak blooming
onion free fire cracker shrimp and writes on 2/9/2004: "We was
going to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday so we choose to
come to your restaurant when we got there we did wait a few min
to be seated the place was not busy at the time and there was
parking in the parking lot. it was around one to 1:15 we sat a
long time and we had to ask a waitress who had our table cause
we wanted something to drink. the waitress went back and finally
another girl come out she was pleasant and tried to make it as
nice as she could then she took our order it didn't come out for
the longest if we had been at outback we would have gotten a
free meal. then after a while the food started to come when the
main dish come there's not much to say the chicken and fries my
niece had was way over cooked it was so hard it just broke off
her fries was way cooked too much. we had fajitas for two it was
so cooked that it was like chewing on leather I had to pull it
to break it apart in my mouth. then my brother in law had a
steak it was not good .all so my sister had family there two
they had steak I have not talk to them but my sister said they
was not happy either. then she came to take a pic of my brother
in law for his birthday and was out of film which that was no
big deal. then u got the nerve to ad tip on to the bill well I
tell ya what it a good thing you all did cause you might not of
got one. I'm not sure what the bill was I gave my brother in law
23.00 and i know i owed him more that night I made Rice-a-Roni
out of the box and it was better then what we had at the
restaurant. we sat there from one o clock till 3:15 before we
got our food. I have been to Durango's in Sarasota and I will go
back to the in Sarasota we have always had excellent service and
food but I sure will not recommend the in Venice it wasn't worth
what we had to pay cause the dog ate the most of it. i didn't
answer the question on ambience I'm not sure what that is and
also we had no wine. Why didn't we say anything well we sat that
long to get it and she would have had to take it all back so we
just dealt with it. thank you for your time" Paul
Greisen rated the food poor because, "Steaks were tough,
flavorless and of obvious poor quality." Paul ordered Tenderloin
Steaks, Sirloin Steaks and writes on 1/15/04: "I frequently
visit the Sarasota area on business. On Thursday, January 15,
2004 I had the opportunity to dine at Durango's. My client and I
had to wait nearly 2 hours for a table and we had reservations
already. Our server never mentioned any specials or side dishes.
The steaks we ordered (tenderloin & sirloin) came overcooked and
had no flavor. I made mention to the server of the quality and
he indicated that "sometimes that happens with our steaks, we
don't always get the same". After this and 2 other visits during
the summer of 2003, I have decided never to return to a Durango
Steakhouse." |
