Stan Grey party of 2 had dinner at the Bijou Cafe and rated the Potato Souffle(House Specialty), Duckling excellent because, "Absolutely fantastic from bread to soup to main course and desert. My absolute favorite in Sarasota." and writes on April 20, 2007, "Although not cheap, a meal of this caliber would cost double in New York. The lobster bisque was a real treat, the potato soufflé was unbelievably tasty, and the roast duck was tender and cooked to perfection. I could not think of any negatives about this restaurant. It is not for kids."

And after dinner they came out and sang Happy Birthday to me with a wedge of cake and a candle. They made my day so very special, Thank you"

Lee Newbon rated the food excellent because, "The high standards are consistent with each visit." Lee has visited the Bijou 30 times and writes on November 18, 2004, "Bijou Cafe, each time we visit it continues its high standards it seems with little effort. Surely the sign of a truly outstanding restaurant. Never hurried, friendly and attentive staff, the restaurant gives one a feeling of comfort and well being. Our last visit was no exception to the above. We arrived at 7.20 pm. 10 minutes early and were immediately shown to our table. Favorites like the shrimp piri piri and the outstanding 'special' rack of lamb were expertly cooked to one's preference and served with good timing between courses, enough to allow us time to digest the starter before beginning our main course. 2 of my party enjoyed beautifully prepared halibut demonstrating the Bijou's ability to serve excellent fish and meat. Visitors should try the very good selection of South African wines on offer, great value against Napa Valley offerings. We left 21/2 hours after entering having enjoyed 3 courses, coffee and wines. At $85 a head including tip not cheap but a real treat, we felt the price very worth the experience. We shall go back again.........and again."

Dennis & Rebecca Crookshanks write on 5/4/2000: "Our meal began with a smoked salmon pate' with crackers that went extremely well with the Poully Fuisse' wine. I ordered the special which was a red snapper dish. It was hot and so was the plate it was served on; therefore, my dinner never got cold. The rice that was served along with the snapper was cooked perfectly and the vegetables added pleasing color and taste. We have not one complaint. The Bijou Cafe' may not be one the cheaper restaurants around, but it is definitely well worth every penny. To top it off we had the crème broulé for dessert - fantastic! I love great food!"
