Anonymous party of 2 ordered Hummus Appetizer, Tappas, including
pork, beef in bowl of ? sauce, quail, chicken skewers and rated
the food excellent because, "Everything was top notch -
delicious" and writes on January 10, 2005: "Unfortunately, we
cannot remember the exact names of the dishes we had. A hummus
appetizer with crackers was delicious and just a little spicy.
We ordered 4 different tappas and all were superior, each with a
different delicious, exotic, but not too exotic sauce of some
kind. Don't be fooled, these tappas are not appetizers, they are
small entrees. Four to share was a lot of food. Were too full
for dessert. We were surprised when the bill came, expecting it
to be much higher. We will go back on our next visit."
An
anonymous writer rated the food excellent because, "it was
extraordinarily good." Anonymous ordered Quail, Pork Loin, Tuna
Sashimi, Beef Carpaccio, Beggar's Purse, Raspberry Sorbet and
writes on April 19, 2004: "I took my date to the Silver Cricket
before a formal event at our workplace. The meal was excellent,
and tied in with the later event to make for a memorable
evening. She talked of the amazing quail dish for hours! Silver
Cricket is a tapas restaurant, so the portions are small, but
priced accordingly, so it doesn't get too expensive...a nice
idea, as you get to try a few different things. The wine is
reasonably priced as well. Our service was also fine...the
timing of items arriving at our table was right on, although one
over-eager busboy seemed jumpy to take my date's desert before
she had finished...but that's really the only thing even close
to bad I can say about the Cricket. I plan on going back very
soon, as it was the kind of place where it's tough to pick
something as everything looks good. I want to try more!"
An anonymous writer from Sarasota writes on 4/17/2003
"When I first arrived I asked the gentleman who seated me what
the soup of the day was. He promised to find out, but I never
saw him again. I asked my server later and she found out for me.
The Cricket Field Green Salad was EXCELLENT...good goat cheese
on top, and the soy vinaigrette dressing is wonderfully tangy.
BUT the menu said egg was involved... there was no egg. I asked
about that, and again somebody went off to get an answer and
never returned. The mango glazed salmon was delicious. It was
served atop jasmine rice and vegetable fried rice, which was
good... BUT the menu said "a duo of Thai purple rice and jasmine
rice." No purple rice.
It's not so much that I was devastated by the lack of egg on the
salad and purple rice with the salmon, but I noticed. If a
restaurant has changed the description of the dish from what is
said on the menu, that information should be offered to the
diner upon ordering. I just don't like bait-and-switch. Don't
get me wrong... the food was superb as served, and the bread was
delivered to my table so hot I couldn't touch it until it cooled
(a BIG plus, HOT bread!). But what is described on the menu is
what should be served."
