Bob Walker writes on 3/20/2003: "I had Salmon
encrusted with Goat Cheese and Wild Mushrooms. It was prepared
to perfection. I also had a cobbler for desert which probably
was the best cobbler I ever had.
My wife had a pasta dish which we raved about but the real treat
was the ambiance of the place. We were seated in one of the most
lovely gardens in the entire area. It was a wonderful
experience. The menu is very intriguing.
Intend to write the chef to learn how he prepared the goat
cheese and wild mushroom crust for the salmon. This place was
recommended by friends who also love the setting and the food."
David Edmonds writes on 9/18/2002: "I try to make
it to the alley cat anytime i visit my family in Sarasota - it
is one of the highlights of any trip to Sarasota - i have always
the best service and the food is excellent!! the atmosphere and
ambiance there are just as important to me as the food and
service - so unique! we have nothing like it in Michigan!! I
would recommend it to anyone, and am looking forward to my next
visit to Sarasota just for an opportunity to dine at the alley
cat again!"
Frederick Hund writes on 7/2/2002: "Short food
memory except that it was always a thoroughly pleasant dining
experience. The first time was at dinner during the winter with
a coldish night. We sat outside in the garden warmed by portable
heaters deftly hidden. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to
anyone particularly interested in a dining experience. One of
the better Sarasota restaurants - not the most expensive but not
inexpensive. I'd say a three on cost."
Allan Thompson writes: "This wonderful location in
the heart of downtown Sarasota is an oasis with excellent food.
Tables are set on the edge of a garden with a wonderful variety
of plants in the style of an informal country garden.
The Alley Cat is a dining experience to be enjoyed in a relaxing
atmosphere. It is not a posh restaurant - more a bohemian
mixture of comfort and tasty food."
